Background:

John Hellins Primary School is situated in Potterspury, a rural village approximately five miles from Towcester and six miles from Milton Keynes. The area the school serves is essentially the village itself, but does also welcome some pupils from other local villages, Towcester and Milton Keynes. The school forms part of a cluster of schools whose pupils normally go on to Kingsbrook Secondary School, Deanshanger. John Hellins works with other local schools to form the Forrester Cluster - Cosgrove, Old Stratford, Yardley Gobion, Paulerspury and Deanshanger Primary Schools. The school was first built in 1837. It consists of four large classrooms, ICT suite, library, Design and Technology area, staff room and resource room. The hall area was built in 1980 and consists of a multi-purpose hall, offices and entrance hall and curriculum resource area.The grounds of the school are attractive and extensive for a school of its size. It consists of a swimming pool, fields, tarmac playground and a wildlife area with a pond. In addition, the school also uses the village's sports field for football, cross- country and athletics events. There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, cross-country, tennis, hockey, art and drama.
