Background:
The school, which celebrated the 450th anniversary of its founding in 1998,occupies a split site in a small market town. One site is modern, the other dates from the 15th century. The over-subscribed school is in a 'distinctive' setting including a school chapel and lake. Music is 'very strong'. The chapel choir sings Evensong in the school chapel, the youth choir undertakes European tours, and there is a junior choir, orchestra and jazz band. The school has designated special provision for students with moderate or specific learning difficulties. 'We are a caring institution in which the quality of learning is paramount, but one which also places emphasis on mutual respect and care for others'.
