Background:
The school dates back to 1867, when it was founded by the church. It is housed in a mixture of old and new buildings in a rural village setting, with grounds which offer a new pond and herb garden developed with a #5000 environmental grant. Other facilities include a covered swimming pool and grassed and tarmac play areas. Children play football, netball and basketball and compete in athletics against other local schools. Extra-curricular activities include sailing, gym, football, rugby, dance, art and craft, choir, plant club, French and recorder. The school has 'strong' community links which include entertaining local senior citizens at Christmas, distributing harvest gifts and partaking in Operation Spring Clean and the Keep Our Village Tidy poster competition. The school has a policy for charitable giving and pupils choose charities to support.
