Background:

The Kingswood School is a comprehensive school for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18. The school opened as a grammar school in 1965 with 150 students. It provides a range of materials to assist students in their learning, including a wide range of books, videos, audio cassettes and CD ROMs. The school has a strong sporting tradition in the school and it runs teams in most major sports, including soccer, basketball, netball, hockey, cross-country and athletics. There are also many opportunities to practise and improve standards in a wide range of other sports. A great number of non-sporting clubs also exist textiles, art, mathematics, chess, dance, drama, and all sorts of musical pursuits. The physical education department makes full use of its facilities, which include a gymnasium, sports hall, tennis courts and a full range of sports pitches. The traditional sports covered at Key Stage 3 and 4 are: football, rugby, basketball, hockey, netball, gymnastics, athletics, tennis, badminton, volleyball, rounders and cricket. The school aims to provide a safe and secure environment where all students can prosper and make the most of their talents and abilities.
