Background:

Irthlingborough Junior School is located four miles northeast of Wellingborough. It is a large school, situated in two, mostly victorian, buildings and caters for children aged seven to 11. The school provides opportunities for the children to take part in educational visits related to curriculum work being undertaken in school. Children have represented the school at various venues, such as The Castle Theatre. The school's musical groups are very successful, and have been invited to perform on numerous occasions. Children regularly take part in organised tournaments, ranging from football, netball, dance and cricket to chess matches. Teachers run various after-school clubs, which change with the seasons. The school has an active home school association, which is instrumental in raising money to enhance the provisions it makes for the children. The school is committed to providing a caring, safe and challenging learning environment that enables children to strive towards reaching their full potential, to develop a sense of awe and wonder, to know right from wrong, to instil a sense of interdependence and a tolerance of others.
